CheckAHome

Data sources and credits

Where property information comes from, and its limitations.

Last updated: 25 October 2026

CheckAHome combines records and third-party data with its own summaries and scoring. Sources vary by check and availability. Records may be obtained directly or through a provider. Inclusion is not endorsement by a provider.

Sources used for property checks

Property checks use relevant information from PropertyData, the EPC register, HM Land Registry, police.uk, postcodes.io, Rightmove, Ofsted and Met Office/DEFRA air data. The sources and notices below apply where their records or mapping are included.

Rightmove: listing references and links do not grant a licence to reproduce listing photographs, floor plans or other protected content. Such content remains subject to its owner’s rights. postcodes.io: postcode and geographic lookup information incorporates underlying public datasets and their applicable notices.

Public records and places

Planning and market providers

PlanIt: aggregated planning records and links to local authorities. Its FAQ permits reuse of its data without mandatory attribution, but warns that the service has no guaranteed availability. Planning documents, drawings and images on linked authority sites retain their own copyright and are not licensed for unrestricted copying. Always check the original authority record and current application status.

PropertyData: market estimates, rents and area information. Data supplied by PropertyData is used as an input to our own reports, rather than redistributed as a raw dataset. Provider data is not professional advice, is not guaranteed by CheckAHome and should be independently verified. PropertyData does not endorse our scoring or presentation. See its API licensing guidance. Historical reports show a dated observation, not necessarily current information. Listing links do not give us rights to reproduce listing photographs.

Underlying geographic data

Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right 2026 where Ordnance Survey open data is used. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Dataset-specific notices and any third-party rights continue to apply.

Accuracy and coverage

Coverage is England initially. Data may be delayed, incomplete, estimated or wrongly located. Dataset publication dates differ; report generation does not mean every underlying record was updated on that day. No single source checks every risk. See limitations and methodology.
