CheckAHome

Terms of use

The terms for using our website, app and property reports.

Last updated: 25 October 2026

CheckAHome is a trading name of HGC PROPERTY DESIGN LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16889701. Registered office: Telegraph House, 59 Wolverhampton Road, Stafford, United Kingdom, ST17 4AW. Contact: hello@checkahome.co.uk.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the CheckAHome website and app. Read them before using the service. Our privacy notice explains personal-data handling; our purchase terms apply to paid reports. The service is not intended for children under 16. You must be 18 or over to buy paid features. Coverage is England unless expressly stated otherwise.

2. Information, not professional advice

CheckAHome summarises available public and third-party property information. Scores, match percentages, values, affordability calculations, renovation costs and potential concerns are automated indicators, not a survey, valuation, mortgage recommendation, legal opinion or financial or planning advice.

Confirm the address after a scan. Camera, GPS and compass matching can identify the wrong property. Verify important findings with a solicitor, surveyor, lender or relevant authority before offering, buying, renting or carrying out work. A report cannot predict or prevent a transaction falling through or guarantee savings.

3. Records, coverage and limitations

Records can be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed or unavailable. A planning application is not proof that work is approved, will proceed or has been completed. Nearby features do not establish an effect on a particular property. Flood, crime, connectivity and other area indicators are not guarantees about an individual home.

Missing data is not evidence of no risk. A high score or a “Looks clean” verdict does not certify a property as safe or suitable. Check the coverage and dates shown in the report. Unless explicitly included, we do not inspect structural condition, fire safety, cladding, damp, boundaries, title rights, lease documents, ground rent, service charges or hidden defects. Legal searches and a physical survey remain necessary.

4. Accounts and safe use

You may sign in using Google or Apple through Rork Auth. Account backup stores saved-home report facts, not photos. Signing out stops account backup but does not delete existing stored information.

Provide accurate account details and keep your login secure. Tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You can request account deletion using the deletion page.

Only photograph from a place you are entitled to be. Do not trespass, photograph private interiors without permission, harass people or use the app to identify or target occupants. Avoid capturing identifiable people, vehicle plates and unrelated private information.

Fair-use limits

Checks are subject to any allowance or fair-use limit displayed in the app before purchase or use. Do not automate checks, share access commercially or evade rate limits. We may apply proportionate restrictions to abusive or excessive automated use. We will not retrospectively remove a paid allowance that was expressly promised at purchase.

5. Ownership and permission

We and our licensors own the app, website, branding and original report content. Third-party records remain subject to their owners’ rights. You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the service and your reports for your own research. A report does not give permission to redistribute underlying datasets or reuse third-party listing photographs, plans or drawings.

You retain rights in your photographs. Scan photos remain on your phone and are not uploaded to us. Do not capture or use photographs in a way that infringes another person’s rights.

6. Purchases

Prices and included features are shown before payment. See our purchase terms for delivery, refunds, cancellation and access. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

7. Availability and changes

We use reasonable care and skill in providing the service. Availability and third-party records may be interrupted, and some features require internet access and a compatible device. We may maintain or update the service and will explain material changes appropriately. Updated terms do not retrospectively remove rights attached to an existing purchase.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary for security or a material breach. Where practical, we will explain the reason and allow a reasonable opportunity to put it right. Contact us if suspension affects a paid report.

8. Our responsibility

Nothing excludes or restricts liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. We remain responsible where the law requires us to be, including for failure to use reasonable care and skill.

The service is for personal consumer use. We do not accept responsibility for business losses such as lost business profits or commercial opportunities. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made, or caused by matters beyond our reasonable control. These provisions do not remove your statutory rights. No report guarantees a particular purchase outcome, property value or saving.

9. Complaints and corrections

Email hello@checkahome.co.uk with the property address, report date and issue. Please avoid sending passwords, payment-card details or unnecessary personal information. Owners and businesses can ask us to review an inaccurate property reference or concern. We aim to respond to correction enquiries within 10 working days; this target does not replace statutory deadlines.

10. Apple and other websites

App Store use is also subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement and applicable store terms. Apple does not provide CheckAHome customer support. External sites and their content are controlled by their operators; linking to them does not imply endorsement.

11. Law

English and Welsh law governs these terms. Mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live remain unaffected. The courts of England and Wales can hear disputes; consumers resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
